Car won’t recognise the Smart Key

2024 model. Smart key operates ok to open/lock doors but the engine won’t start. A message is given saying the Smart Key isn’t recognised.
Is there a way to start the car without the smart key?

I would hope not!

Even if there was, no one is going to post it on an open forum.

I called them out. AA turned up, bloke didn’t know anything about my model, didn’t even know where the battery is. He couldn’t get it started so it’s been recovered to LR for repair. I was hoping that the physical key that’s inside the remote that can open the doors could start the engine.

Have you by any chance used the app to remote unlock whilst key was present nearby? If so that disables the key. There is a procedure to reset in iGuide I think.

Reported often on L460 forum.

Remote unlocking via the app has been disabled across the range

Interesting - I have just had the N888 update done (required both keys) and the remote unlocking works fine.

I didn’t have both keys and had no updates since I bought the car in December. It’s with the Dealer now but the AA bloke managed to flatten the battery so they can’t check if the 2nd key will work. It’s in a queue of warranty work now and prob won’t be looked at for a week or so.

Update to update - the remote function from the keys work, but the APP remote unlock function is `temporarily' unavailable. Maybe I should learn to read things properly Rolling Eyes
