No communication with steering angle sensor 2007 l320 3.6V8

Good evening to you all…

It’s an old one and covered many times over. But I can’t find my issue anywhere on the internet.

So in short I’m the 4x4 display the wheels are always showing full lock to the right.

I have the GAP tool and have tried two old used steering angle sensors and one new one. But still I can’t communicate with the sensor. Simply enter calibration mode on the GAP tool only to be confronted with a failure warning.

If I drive the car all the usual lights go on and it sets a chain of transmission faults ABS, roll control etc errors and forces the car to lower and then limp mode.

Every module is throwing an unable to communicate with steering angle sensor.

My question is where is the steering angle data sent to is it the ABS module? The main ECU or somewhere else. I’m guessing two old and one new sensor can’t all be bad and I have a fault in the ECU responsible for collecting the steering angle data and forwarding it on the all the other modules to confirm we are all good to go.

Can anyone suggest where I should take my next investigation to..

Thanks everyone who might steer me in the right direction 😛..
