Using a fast internet connection the download takes between 20 minutes and 1 hour (plus) and is circa 33GB

Uploading to the car takes up to 30 mins (normally about 20) but until the update starts do not move the car as it will not allow the update to start if you are moving. Once it starts you can happily drive (it is normal for the radio sound to stutter a few times during updating the map).

Yeah, it takes a damned sight longer to download than it does to update the maps in the car! I just start the update and then leave the car on the drive with the update running (thankfully I live on a quiet street and can see the car from where I’m working in the house).

Real shame that the maps don’t update OTA like they did in my old Volvo, but I guess that’s more to do with HERE than JLR.

Also annoying how most local roads (esp round my way) are labelled as “unknown road” in my map view in the car. 2021 P400e Autobiography

You can check the current state of roads on the "master" map and also upload changes to HERE.

thanks everyone, so do you need to leave the car running while the updates are taking place then?

Yes, car should be running as far as I'm aware.

Pretty antiquated, I know. 2021 P400e Autobiography
