I’ve had both CD options in my various sports.

I’ve uploaded CD’s to the onboard store from the infotainment “upload” option.

I’ve ripped CD’s to mp3 and transferred them to a USB stick.

I seem to recall you need to format the USB stick to FAT32 or the car doesn’t like it.
