gas struts

hi apologise if its been up before !
The rear tailgate opens but not enough to get your fingers in to lift up.
My guess is the struts need replacing have tried a few places but no stock anywhere,
What happens if i remove the subwoofer from tailgate to reduce the weight? will the hifi still work?
TIA
Dave

I would think so but a small strap like you have on the back seats would be simpler to pull on,
I always pull on the RHS of the number plate light shroud

There are at least a dozen suppliers with stock on ebay ...???? Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

Have you tried Advanced Factors?
https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/tailgate...-240-c.asp

No idea if they have live stock on the site but they've been helpful in the past. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

If you put those silly handles on you will devalue the vehicle.
Handles to lift the full tail gate are to the left and right of the upper tailgate release. Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

Now you said you ar disabled I understand but the new gas struts should lift it much more easily.
Handles or a strap to lift it the first foot and maybe a stick to push it all the way up .
Good luck with it , Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

Obviously don't know much you want to spend, but have you considered something like this, they do list it for the 05-09 Sport, can't actually say if they are any good or not though, as personally have had no experiences of them as my car has the powered tailgate.

I haven't read the full blurb, but I guess you mean the foot gesture opening, I would think that only becomes active when the car is unlocked otherwise it would be a major security issue.
