Mastic joint?

Hi is it wise to fill the gap between top rear spoiler and roof (5/10 mm) with black ( car is black) silicone mastic to prevent water ingress ? Any one done this and did it work?
TIA

Spoiler and rear door ( Tailgate) he means as anyone with a brain would realize
Yes I understand the HRW connection is prone to corrosion so this may help. Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

As anyone who used their brain to fit some silicone would have realized before even attempting such a feat, the silicone would stick to both the spoiler and the roof, making it a single-use seal.

If the silicone (or any other seal) was applied to a single edge only (either roof or spoiler), it would rub the corresponding spoiler or the roof edge, which would inevitably lead to paint rubbing on this edge. Especially since such seal would accumulate dust and dirt.

The gap between the roof and the spoiler is there for a reason. Regards etc.,

Well, this is not a "gap between the spoiler and the roof". This is a gap between the spoiler and tailgate it is fitted to.
I imagine it would take a total spoiler removal in order to do it properly. Regards etc.,

Yepp, it helps writing accurate descriptions and eliminates the guesswork. You may have to take some time to get used to it. Regards etc.,

Water ingress into what part, tailgate, roof panel? looking at my tailgate not sure it would really achieve anything unless the rear screen bonding is leaking along the top edge.

Cheers
