White ones are just air filters.

grey ones are better.

I use the Mahle 'active carbon' one's in my 320 don't know if it makes any real difference, but less than half the price of genuine L/R overpriced one's and just as good at least.

Any filter that is super cheap as I have to replace mine about every two months as it gets clogged with dust - not very satisfactory for a 4 wheel drive.
