RRs 2009 2.7 slow to warm up

Very slow to warm up to 86 deg maybe 5 miles + Normal or thermostat stuck open? Does not go over 86 even on french motorway. ( P10 digital display). Rad fan only runs on initial start up if cold.I appreciate tht the temp[ sensor is in the top radiator hose and water circulates initially through the heads and does no go into the rad till the thermostat opens...perhaps I have answered my own question !
I am use to a 4 litre jag which would be up in 1 mile and could get a lot lot hotter in traffic !!but that had small coolant volume to aid warm up so what do you think .. Have new stat on order. Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

The diesels are slow to warm - that's one reason they have the FBH. They also tend to run at slightly higher revs to aid early warming up. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I have noticed no difference in the RPM when started hot or cold.
I think the problem is that the engine temp sensor is usually on the engine side of the thermostat reading true engine temp but on this model its in the top hose so water flow to the radiator is low until the thermostat opens.
As it stops at 86 deg ( 82+4) I think the thermostat is fine and the radiator is not blocked etc

My goal is always to check or replace anything I cannot do at the side of the road in france. Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.
