After having the screen replace three times now, I learnt the hard way to check, the last time I removed and refitted all the bits myself to make sure it was right.

Yep, South African junk. Mine was done by them during lockdown and these days there are obvious "missing" wires when demisting/defrosting. I guess I ought to chase them and demand a new screen but I can bet that'll be a game and a half. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

When I had mine replaced in the U.K under insurance prior to shipping the car here, I insisted with the insurance company (LV) I wanted a genuine screen fitted, which fair play to them they agreed to with no arguments, however twice Autoglass turned up and tried to fit the cheap pattern South African screen at which point I told them they are not fitting it, after my speaking to LV again they eventually turned up with the genuine screen. A short time later Autoglass customer services rang me asking me if I was satisfied with their service, I did however politely tell them what I thought of it, to which they kindly refunded me the screen excess payment for my inconvenience.

Fair play Col. I really couldn't be arsed to argue, partly because I needed to get back on the road, partly because of the "guarantee" and partly because I am seriously considering getting something a bit newer.

Sorry, should have mentioned my case the car was only three years old at that point, so may have given me a slight advantage with the insurance company telling them to fit a genuine L/R one.

Col, I think the age thing is the key there. Once they're a bit older, the insurance companies aren't so bothered about helping to fit genuine screens. Frankly, just a Pilkington OEM would do - doesn't need to have the LR logo on it.
