Germany

I disconnect the negative terminal of the small battery.

This does work! Mine is a 2015.

I have now the crossed A in the dash. To get rod of this I also changed the CCF from equipped with A/S to without.

But the A is still there. Does anybody know how to get rid of it?

Evening all,
Well I hate the stop/start thing… plus I’m not sure that it does the engine much good.
Mine (2016 model) had the capacitor and was about a 20 minute job most of which was trying to get to it without breaking any of the clips.
Now when I start it up after about 20 seconds the light on the button goes out and it says that the Stop/Start is off…
All of this equals a happy chap Very Happy
Thanks to all that passed on this method.

Hello again

Just a side note, since I got my RRS if I left it in the garage for more than a few days the battery would go flat.
Now I’ve disabled the keyless entry the battery stays full to the brim so it’s a win, win.

As a RRS owner who has recently had a new main battery fitted after months of denial I would say if your battery is going flat after a week of no use it’s on it’s way out. Are you on the original battery? My battery would go flat if I washed the car. This is due to me opening doors , boot, bonnet, side steps coming in and out and everything else that goes on behind the scene with these cars. . The first time it happened I put it on charge overnight and everything seemed ok. I even went on holiday for 2 weeks left the car in the garage with alarm and keyless entry all activated and car started with no problem at all until I washed it again. This time I got the AA out and they said the battery is kaput New battery fitted and £285 poorer and all is ok. I have washed the car a few times since and all ok with no starting issues. My keyless is still active and sometimes not used for 2 weeks with no low battery issues. The battery that was replaced was the original one from the factory and was almost 9 year old. My car is a 2015 year. They say if you get 7 years out of a battery then you have done well……

If your still on the original battery it should be date stamped on the negative post.
Worth a check !

I appreciate your comments, the battery was replaced last year so I don’t think that was the problem.
I read that if the car is in keyless entry mode and you can’t get the key far enough away from the car then it never properly goes to sleep and thus drains the battery.
I have also noticed that now keyless entry is disabled there is a bit of a delay while the system boots up (I guess), before in keyless mode it would be awake before I even got into the car.
I know it’s a bit off topic (my bad) but it’s interesting how it all works…
