Hi. Appreciate this has been done to death but things do change over time. 2013 L320 SDv6 on standard 20" rims. I run at 36psi on all four corners under advice from my Landrover/Range Rover specialist.
So far I've narrowed it down to; (price includes fitting)
Toyo proxes @ £176
Falken Azenis FK520 @£164
Uniroyal Rainsport @ £185
General grabber GT plus @ £165

Thoughts?, experience?. I'm leaning towards the Generals as they're made by Continental and apparently will last a good few miles.

I had Grabber GT 275/40 R20 106 Y fitted a couple of years ago and have been very pleased with them. They run smoothly and quietly and feel secure on the road.

Unfortunately one of the rears was written off by a cut right through the treadband and cords whilst on holiday. The local tyre shop could only get me a Uniroyal replacement, so I ended up having a pair and now run the odd Grabber GT as the spare. The Uniroyals seem OK so far.

Not everyone wants Chinese ditch finders on their 2.5t SUVs, that's the problem.  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Could you elaborate on why the pirelli is "crap" and which particular version of tyre as I have run them for years with no issues, also not sure the michelin would be the ideal choice for Scotland being a summer tyre, depending on where in Scotland the op lives I guess though .

That Michelin is a tyre designed for sports cars allowing for occasional track use. Great on a true sports car but seems a bit overkill for a big old leany, floaty, heavy SUV.

The Pilot Sport 4 SUV makes more sense for an RRS.

But if I was fitting a single tyre to an RRS and didn't need any off road ability, I'd probably look at something like the CrossClimate 2 SUV. Winter-rated summer tyre, basically, and the CrossClimate does very well in just about every comparison review I've seen.

My Volvo XC60 came with Pirelli PZero and they realy lasted. However they were unreliable in the turns, even in the dry.
After changing to Michelin Pilot 4 it was suddenly a whole different car. It handled much better, more reliable/predictable and less cabin noise. Also the consumption went down with .3 liters/100 km.
My previous and current RRS both came with Continentals: Fast and uneven wear. And so I changed to Michelin Pilot 4 again with the same drastic improvement.

The only thing between the car and the road is the tire. Therefore don't try to safe money and only buy the best. SW

I’ve run the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV for a couple of years after a long time on OE Conti’s. Frankly, they are brilliant on the road. The thing I noticed is how easy they were to balance. Not the cheapest but, easily the best. Cheers,
