No power at diagnostic port.

2012 RRS

Gap 11D shows no reaction when plugged in. No led.
Works fine in my friends Disco parked beside it.
Fuse 63 5A is good. What a swine to access. Red clip too short. Long nosed pliers too long. Fek!
Checked behind panel to make sure the port was the real thing and not a decoy.
Anyone know the pinouts to meter them? At least the power and earth?
Any other bright ideas?

Oops.
I meant fuse 66.
Disco friend came up with pin16 12v and 5 & 6 are earths.
Does that sound right? Series 3 109

Thanks for the link. Good page.
My port seems ok. Power and earth good. Pins clean and in place.
Gap11D doesn't like it though. Have to twist it slightly to one side for it to wake up.
Then it sends my fault messages crazy. Mostly canbus errors of lost comms once I read them.
I can clear them all with the gap, except for one relating to the forward alert on the cruise control, which was fine before.
Anyone had a problem like this?
I've ordered a short obd2 extension in the faint hope of a quick fix to the socket issue.

Update.
Got an OBD extension cable.
Seemed to work, although the blue led on the gap is quite faint. Initial red and green bright.
Checked all the faults in case any needed investigation and cleared them all. None came back on recheck. Very Happy
Even though the socket looked Ok, I released the connectors and took them out one at a time.
The only thing obvious was that all the female connectors seemed to have a bigger gap than the thickness of the plug pins?
Maybe a plug with extra thick pins had been in there before and spread them?
Anyway, I squeezed the spring leafs in a bit on each one.
Once I've plucked up the courage, I'll try the gap straight in again Rolling Eyes

The plug pin size thing may be an issue. I never got down to why my OpenPort does work on the L320 and the Alive Tuning gizmo with my remap didn't. Although it powered on and was able to check for codes, it wasn't able to communicate with the engine ECU - which SDD did with ease. Was so sorry to have to mail the gizmo back to Alive after all the effort from their (excellent) customer service, my vehicle just didn't cut it. Regards etc.,

Update.
Gap 11D now works in my OBD port after tightening up the female connectors.
If you get no response at all from a dongle, it would be worth trying this.
