FBH Timed Climate - All the noises/smells but then nothing

Good Morning Folks,

I enabled my FBH Timed Climate via my GAP IID and have been playing with it for a couple of days.

This morning its just under 4 degrees where I am, so I popped out to the RRS and set Timed Climate to turn on a few minutes later.

Note: I have not started the engine since yesterday, I have 3/4 full tank of diesel and I use the RRS regularly ~ 400 miles a week.

So, when the time came, the interior blower started then a few seconds later the FBH started whirling, I'm guessing its the water pump in the heater. After a few seconds I could smell diesel from the exhaust of the FBH.

This carried on for a little while, the water pump, I believe, was still working and I could still smell diesiel but after that it all stopped.

I have tried this a few times now and all to the same end, now smoke from the FBH exhaust, it all just shuts down after a minute or so.

I have read most, if not all, the posts on here and quite a few on other forums but I'm still none the wiser.

Could anyone give me any ideas of what to look at or try please.

Many thanks

Hi,

if you have a Windows laptop you can get the free webasto software and rig up a cable to check/run diagnostics, I would suggest it is "flame failure" "unable to detect flame" so then shuts down and runs a bit in cooling/shut down mode.

ISTR the glow plug is the sensor Question

if you get it running (blow down the inlet pipe when it starts Shocked ) let it run its full time to give it a chance of a good burn.

Thumbs Up

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply, really appreciate it.

Sorry I should have posted earlier. I managed to get it sorted this morning.

I tried the manual heater, that did the same. So I tried fuel priming via IID and it started dripping diesel from the FBH exhaust joint where it connects to the body. Then I just, tried the test after that and finally it started properly.

Must admit there was clouds of smoke for a while but once all that cleared, all the tests after that have been successful. I set the timed climate for 7 hours later and it worked great. It was nice and warm inside and shut off exactly after 30 minutes.

Many thanks for your post and to all the others that I've read.

Many thanks
