2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Bali Blue
Warped front discs?

One of my friends has just bought a RRS, he let me have a test drive; all went well until I had to brake. The steering wheel really juddered badly and you could feel it through the whole car.

I assume that it is warped front brake discs, anyone agree with me?

Possible, and more than likely, however dodgy wheel bearings will give the same effect, as can knackered suspension joints, so whilst you might be right, you could also be wrong.

All the discs looked like they had seen better days. The steering did feel a little remote and pedestrian too.
I’ll get him to check other suspension components too.

Could just be poor transfer of material on to the rotors - ie not bedded in properly and now have ‘lumps’ of pad material on them. Might be worth cleaning them before jumping to replacement unless they are knack*rd

An incompletely tightened wheel can give some nasty vibrations when loaded even if it's ok at other times. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

My MY2012 eats front brakes. Every 2 years they need to be replaced and I still to this day have them done at the dealer under warranty.
The car is too heady for the size of the front rotors I’ve heard, could be an urban legend.

I doubt its bearings, etc. mine has always been brakes. This is driving 6,000 miles or 10,000 miles year.

None of my other cars have this issue, Porsche, Mini, or Jeep. 2018 Telsa MS

The runout could be any number of problems. You will need to fix them first to get an idea of where to look.
I just replaced my discs and pads (front and rear) on my 2010 TDV8. This is the first time they have been replaced since the car was new (apart from the rear pads which were replaced a few years ago). 13 years is not bad for a set of brakes. The only reason I replaced them was the front pads started to "machine" the disks - no pad material left. Lots of screeching.

13 years for a set of pads and disks is OK, but as you never say what milage you have done, if it's only 25k it ain't good is it.

The car has just over 75,000Km on the clock and spends about 1-1.5 h per day being driven (stop start driving).
