I read some where that you should not connect both sides of a charger or maintainer directly to the battery whilst it is connected in the car as it can mess with the sensitive electronics.

IIRC the manual says to connect the positive to battery and negative (earth) to a body point so it bypasses the current to the electronics.

That’s what I do without any issues. They are great chargers.

This is a link to the fitting/wiring instruction for the ctek charger that L/R sell as a over priced option, have to admit they are not the clearest instructions, but does show where to connect to on page 4/6

This is what the tech guys at Ctek sent me.
“I have an 95ah AGM battery listed for your Range Rover, so I would recommend a choice of two chargers for you.

Firstly the Ctek MXS 5.0 charger which will charge and maintain batteries from 1.2ah up to 110ah. The second charger would be the MXS 7.0 this will charge and maintain batteries from 14ah up to 150ah, with the MXS 7.0 charger this will safe guard you should you ever wish to charge batteries over 110ah.

With both chargers in the box you get a set of traditional crocodile leads along with a set of comfort connectors which are designed to be permanently fitted to your battery allowing you to plug the charger into this lead. Either charger can be used whist the battery is connected in situ and won't hurt the electrics or the battery. “ 2017 5.0 v8 Supercharged Autobiography

Personal I went for the MXS 10 which does 10 amps up to 200ah, however I would go for the MXS 7 minimum as it has a 12volt supply facility as well which the MXS 5 does not or never used to should you need it.

The 7 and 10 are bigger and heavier.
But the supply mode used to be recommended for gap iid ccf updates

I have found that the connection of the MXS 5 gets very hot during charging.
