My FBH has given up the ghost. My Indie says its probably the spark (?) plug and that there might be a service kit for it but Webasto rep (I think) says he can't get one. A new heater is £900 or so. Does anyone know of a service kit - or any other work around to save having to buy a whole new unit? Would consider buying a second hand one from breakers but depends on how much and there's always the risk that it will fail after a couple of weeks. Anyone aware if these units are prone to failure? Oh, and before anyone says anything, yes I do use my heater a lot so its probably my fault it needs a service. Robin

I think you may mean Glow Plug, used to be able to buy these separate from L/R, but they are not cheap either around (£250.00) and might be a expensive "try it and see". You certainly used to be able to buy parts/service kit's for both Webasto and Eberspacher heaters as we used to repair quite a few truck ones, but I can't for the life of me remember where we used to buy them from in the UK as it was a while ago now.

I really am losing the plot! didn't think to just google for a service kit. I found this as a starter:

Just heard from PB Autoelectrics who say this model is made specifically for Land Rover and they cant help. Looks like its either a new one or take a chance with a second hand one Robin

If you google the part number it comes up as fitted to the VW Touran as well, if it is perhaps they do spares for them.

Col's idea might be an option. But I've just found this on the Disco3 site so posting it just for info in case anyone else has similar problems. I might try it myself or perhaps get my indie to follow this guide.

We had one in last winter, with an "overheat" sensor fault
