I’ve had both, the 2017 onwards you can get CarPlay on it, most should be set up with it anyway free upgrade from LR dealer under warranty usually but some have been charged for it. The older system was a lot more clunky. If I was you I’d wait and get a 2017 onwards model.

I'm becoming more drawn to buying an LR AUC now. Would I be right in thinking a LR warranty can be utilised at my nearest LR dealership (irrospective of the dealers franchise situation vs the franchise bought from)? Search update.... so had one pop up in Kent a couple of weeks ago, was surprised the LR dealer was selling a 17plate as AUC but enquired and all seemed fine until I asked if the milage was warrantied. It had 3 previous owners and the milage was low considering, not that it's impossible but I wanted it confirmed in writing. The salesperson then emailed stating "Sorry to say we won't be retailing this car anymore as the preparation estimate was too high, apologies for any inconvenience." Then the motor disappeared off AT and the LR dealership website. As 4.4 SDV8's aren't thick on the ground, I'm 95% sure that same vehicle has just turned up again on AT via a 2nd hand dealer. I can only think it had issues LR didn't want to address, or my questioning the milage hit a nerve. I've seen another I like which has been on Saxton 4x4's site for a while, but digging into their dealings has brought up a few customer compaints, so that's put me off. The 4.4 SDV8's seem to be more common post 18plate facelift.. frequently AUC at LR dealers. I'm thinking (preparing for the worse) if I buy from LR, if I don't have to return to that particular LR dealer for warrany work... then (as I'm searching nationally) - if anything goes wrong, alot less comuting back to the vending LR dealer, local LR dealer instead? I'm checking companies house for the limited companies behind the dealers selling the older motors and it's rare to find 3rd party dealers with any lengthy trading history... no doubt selling quesionable warranties and using consumer rights (instead) would mean taking the motor back and forth to far flung parts of the country. |
