let's cut straight to it. I assume a dead battery as neither keyfob will unlock it and checked the battery voltage on one fob and its' 3v so should work ok??

No lights on the dash - e.g the red one that flashes intermittently when the car is locked

and the damn passenger door lock won't unlock the car. It doesn't turn clockwise at all, and only turns anti-clockwise a bit ( ~30 degrees) but not enough to unlock the car. Tried both fobs.

I've seen some comments about powering up the car through the towing electrics? Mine has a round plug for trailer and I think a round caravan plug also? Anyone able to tell me the pins to use?

Alternatively, will the interior door locks work to unlock a door if the battery is flat? I thought they were mechanically decoupled from the door lock mechanism when the car is locked as part of the anti-hijack stuff?

For those who want the long story, I (badly) broke my right leg 6 weeks ago and didn't get around to putting the car on charge. Went down to the garage today to do that very thing, and no bueno. So my cast comes off next week and I want to drive, but currently have a supercharged paperweight... Every home should have one!

Why not just connect a charger on a trickle charge for a day or so if you don't need the car straight away, can't see it will be much different than being connected with a ctek charger, shouldn't harm anything.

*** STAND DOWN! I'M IN!! ***

Saw a post by Paddi saying how the door lock turns clockwise to unlock (the opposite of what the owners manual says!!) and someone else mentioned bumping the door as you try to unlock it. Welp, it worked! After about 5 or so mins of jiggling and bumping the passenger door lock obliged and allowed me into the car.

Battery is now on charge (had to disconnect the negative terminal as the extremely low voltage was freaking the car out and I couldn't stop it flashing the lights and making funny noises, even after it disarmed with teh key fob... hopeing a charged battery will fix that)

so, no voltage at the caravan plug pins 3&4. There is 1.1v at some of the trailer plug pins, so expect there is some voltage in the battery and this is just incidental.

I connected my CTek to the pins, but it throws an error. Looking at the plug, pin 4 (+ve) is at the bottom (though my plug is mounted on an angle, there is a pinout on the inside of the plug lid, so 99.99% sure I've got the right pins...) and pin 3 (earth).

It's definately a 12S plug also.

Any ideas what else I can try? I've seen someone suggest connecting the charger to the starter feed wire, but with a broken leg I doubt I'd be able to get under there and access it... that and very little space to do so in my garage. Every home should have one!

There are some 15a blue fuses near the jack that could be checked.

Thank you Col - prompted me to test the passenger door lock barrel and lubricate with WD40 in case of use in an emergency.

Don’t want to hijack this thread by Frostmotorsport but reading with interest.

It prompted me to pop my passenger cover off and try my key in it, I certainly don’t want to be in a position where I can’t get in

I left my car open and Gingerly tried to turn the lock iclockwise, went to about 10 past ( as per a clockface) then stopped as I felt any further would put too much pressure on the ridiculously small key I did think I heard a click but not sure.

My lock would not turn anti clockwise past 12 o’clock ( hope I’m making sense) , fired some silicone spray down ( no graphite unfortunately) still no joy of moving key any further. Therefore not able to lock the car using the key

What’s right n wrong with mine - don’t want to bust anything so stopped before being tempted to try to turn more and break something and thought I would ask wiser people than me.
