Keyless entry

Is it’s possible to disabled this?

I have tried to already using the YouTube videos on my 2011 RR sport autobiography but it doesn’t work

Software update needed maybe?

Not sure why, but there are many reports of battery drainage after keyless entry disabled …

Hi Col,

I've been trying this on and off for a few months now on my RRS but I'm unable to disable keyless entry. I've watched the videos and read peoples comments but all to no avail.

Is there anything different with the facelift models ?

Many thanks

Hi Craig,

Not that I am aware of, some people do seem to manage it with no problem, others can't seem to get it to work, I believe there is a physical difference in the key fobs between the earlier and later cars the later being more compact, but can't really see that making a difference. I do seem to remember they did upgrade the KVM module software a few times as a security fix to try and help prevent theft of the vehicle "that was something else L/R tried that nearly worked" Rolling with laughter whether that could be the difference making it easier to disable on later cars I wouldn't really know, not sure if they ever did a recall on earlier cars either for a software upgrade.

Cheers
Col

Yes its very strange and annoying.

I did find another member that had a similar issue whereby he was unable to program a new key and also unable to disable keyless entry. He contacted GAP and Patrick sent a new file to flash his key module with, this resolved both problems, that was on a MY13 L320.

Maybe I need to ask GAP the same question.

Many thanks

An update, I contacted Patrick at GAP and explained my issue. Patrick asked for my ecu info, which I sent. He then sent me instructions to update my GAP tool with an ecu flash update only.

I have applied the update to my KVM ecu today and tried the disable keyless entry again, unfortunately this didn't work.

Patrick informed me that It's all handled by the KVM ECU and some dont seem to support disabling, earlier hardware especially which is what I have.

So that's that then Crying or Very sad

Many thanks

My car (3 previous owners) came with only one key, so I asked my indie to get another for me. It couldn't be programmed because the KVM module wouldn't permit it.
Apparenly there were 3 generations of KVM:-

1) anbody could programme a new key
2) keys could only be matched at manufature of the vehicle (this is what I originally had)
3) dealers/indies with the right kit can program new keys and keyless entry can be disabled as above

I now have version 3 so I can disable keyless entry - but it did cost me for a new KVM module.

Hi Goffy,

That's interesting, thanks.

Do you have a part number for your V3 KVM ?

Many thanks

Alas, no, the part number is not listed on the invoice.

But the price is recorded as £198.47 back in 2018 - ouch!

I may have it wrong, but I think LR071651 could be keyless start only and LR071386 is passive entry and keyless start, proably best to check with dealer to be sure.

Cheers
