I don't think the cigarette lighter is permanent live. It's live on vehicle unlock, I believe. Regards etc.,

I’ve never looked, but are the L494’s prewired for a fridge like the L320’s? Take a look before getting too crazy since it could already be in there.

Not sure on a L494 but on the L320 cigarette lighter becomes live when vehicle unlocked and stays live with ignition on, then when ignition switched off goes dead after a few minutes when vehicle goes to sleep if I remember right.

Not sure if it’s the same, but my L320 fridge doesn’t go on till the alternator is pushing 13v. Did you test it with the engine running? I believe it is designed so that the fridge will not work without the engine running, as in turning on at 13v and shutting off with the engine. Have you tried just plugging in the fridge, starting the car and then turning the fridge on? Mine can have a delay till the alternator is pushing the desired voltage. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

There must be a variation in some of the L320's as mine works as soon as you turn the ignition on or at least I can hear the fan running and the off as soon as ignition off, you don't have to run the engine. I imagine it would switch off if the battery got low without the engine running though, although I always leave mine switched off at the switch under the cubby box lid.

Could be, my fridge is out of a 2006 NAS RRS. I thought it was broke initially since when I hooked it to a battery it didn’t turn on. I then tried it with the car running and it fired up. I have a voltmeter in the car and 13v is the magic number it turns on at. It’ll stay on, even if voltage drops below 13v, and then shut off with the engine when the car terminates the power to it. Personally I like this setup. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory Born and raised in So Cal. Moved to the UK in 2018 for a few years. Now in Poland and looking at moving back to the UK. |
