Soft close doors?

When we looked our approved used RRS autobiography, the extras spec said it had soft close doors, but when the sale guy tried, it didn’t seem to have it, the doors shut easily, but didn’t seem any different to normal. To be honest I have never experienced this, and the guy seemed to think they can be deactivated, is this true?

Mine has soft closed doors,,just close it onto the first catch & it should pull the door to close fully,if it doesn’t then it hasn’t got soft close doors.

England 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Firenze Red

I love the soft close doors, I just could never find the colour combinations and options I wanted when I was looking for a sport with the soft close doors.
Is it something that could be retrofitted easy or is it a massive job ?

Thanks.

I’ve got the soft close Tom,when the wife & daughter close their doors they still slam them,I’m sick of telling them just to close softly but it makes no difference. They were fitted on the car when I bought it,I wouldn’t have them fitted as a extra if I was to purchase a new sport.

Waste of money for the doors to pull themselves in about an inch. Another chocolate teapot idea.

He, he same here always telling the Mrs just to pull the doors too and not slam them Censored that's mine without soft close doors !!!
Suppose as you say the last inch for it to close is not worth it !

But it still looks good Mr. Green

More than a gimmick IMO - I get Censored off whilst driving my wife's car & someone hasn't closed the door fully - you get the chimes & flashing warning on the dash - no such issues on the Sport Whistle I do agree that I have to remind them that the doors don't need slamming Rolling Eyes 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Slamming any physical structure into another introduces some damage eventually, however immaterial. I would say not having soft-close introduces more wear overal irrespective of how you intentionally use or mis-use that benefit. The soft-close feature only kicks in when a door is not slammed, though. A non-emotional thinking-person's luxury. Thumbs Up L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso

I have a current thread regarding a broken clip thats one of the the door card fixings. Its the one directly under the passenger door cubby. If you have something heavy in the cubby, such a a large water bottle etc, then slam the door, theres a lot of momentum for that small plastic clip to resist. Trying to educate not to slam doors or store big water bottles is a fruitless exercise in my case RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014
