Rear boot/trunk problem with unable to open or lock

Hi

Thewrear boot has died on me, Currently sitting in the semi locked position. with no action from the solenoid to complete locking the boot. I cant get any life from the boot lock switch cant hear any life from the solenoid.
Is it a case of cutting in to the electrics from the inside or is there van alternative
Thanks for your help

John

That's bad luck for you.

When it happened to me, I was eventually able to free it by repeated heavy thumping on the bottom tailgate in the region of the lock.

Then you need to replace the lock (it's labelled FoMoCo and is Ford part no. 3M51R442A66AR and is the same as uded on the Galaxy). much cheaper than LR for the same part.

Powerful UK show a video of how to remove the lower tailgate trim which needs the top gate to be open.

You have to remove the subwoofer to get the lock out and new one in. Mark the rotation of the subwoofer before you remove it, as it only goes back in one way round!

Best of luck.

Thanks for the info but still a no go, I cant even hear anything firing, does anyone know what fuse the rear boot is ion?

Looks like I might need to end up butchering the rear bottom cover to get access to the mechanism and electric to get it open

Well I had to bite the bullet and hole saw a cut out of the boot panel to get access to the electrics, I managed to get it open using a power probe to fire the solenoid.
Cleaned up both the tailgate mechanism and the boot catch all working well for about a dozen opening then died again!
It may be a fault in the tailgate solenoid so have ordered a replacement hopefully that should sort it and luckily a panel was available on e bay to replace the drilled out original
