Yeah, I know there are a LOT of Saffas in Oz.

Unfortunately (for you), most of the ones who left ZA to go to Oz/NZ, are the wrong kind of people... Whistle --

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Firenze Red

Personally i'd say its a decent sweet spot as long as everything that needs doing has been done and its been cared for.

I bought mine at 63k and i'm going to have to do the belts etc very soon. I'd say the traditional niggles happen before 100k so i'm in for having to shell out as hopefully yours will be behind you. L494 3.0L SDV6 Autobiography in Chile Red (Current)

LOL. It depends. The thing here in Portugal - especially in the north - is that cars in general are maintained very well. They can't afford not to be for various reasons! Locals tend to keep their cars for years. I'd go so far as to say there's probably a genuine reason for why it's up for sale now as its only had one owner.

I'm not sure what the annual IUC here would be for a 5.0. It's a gamble but if you know a garage with mechanics who know what they're doing that should give you some peace of mind. Again, I can only speak for the area I know well here in the north and these cars are quite rare. If it's been well cared for with supporting documents... you could have yourself a decent motor for the long term. As regards insurance, shop around a bit but as you may already know it won't vary too much. Insurance costs are sensible here but go for fully-comp' if you get it. Third party only is standard. I can recommend IBEX.

Happy to help further on PM if you need anything. Barrie.

Why would an L322...
that has the least (and, in fact, negligible) mileage of all the cars you have linked to, has the same 5.0SC that your RRS has (in fact: manufactured on the same year), has cheaper parts, less complicated electronics and simpler maintenance compared to later models
...be a money pit exactly? Regards etc.,

^ I've only ever heard horror stories about L322 ownership.

I'm not worried about the engine, it's pretty bulletproof. But it's everything else on that platform that is expensive to fix if anything goes wrong. --

Rest assured, it’s easier and cheaper than a L494. If it was about „hearing stories”, no one would buy a JLR product in the first place. Regards etc.,

My L320 TDV6 is 16 years old now and I have owned it for 13 of those - it is my daily driver so the kms are building up - the most reliable car I have ever owned in over 50 years of driving.

Other than routine servicing, the only issues have been EGRs (now blanked), one air compressor rebuild but still on the original, one alternator and recently the aux belt has started to squeal - not bad for 250,000km.

I would buy again if after what is now an older car. Oh my engine has a BAS tune so performance is on par with the 3.0.

The key being that you no doubt do look after yours. If buying second hand, I'd want evidence that it had been well looked after - a few stamps in a book aren't evidence, really. A folder full of receipts is what one wants to see.

My TDV8 had 179k miles on when I sold it. My current SDV6 (bought from a forum member) now has almost 145k miles on it. The TDV8 was a money pit until I stopped using LR dealerships. Then it became reliable. The SDV6 has been equally good - had a couple of big ticket items (inlet manifold, crossover pipe) but otherwise has been good. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
