It is one of "those things that happen", sadly, thanks to the way the manifold is made - two bits of plastic glued together. BTDT. I had both replaced on the basis that if one was going, the other might follow it and the cost in the job is the labour of getting to them. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I had one replaced previously but stupidly, didn’t get them both done at the same time. Hindsight etc… |

Oddly, they don't split along the glued seam. They split just above it, on the radius of the manifold |

That is odd D_M. I guess the mould made it slightly thinner there and it's a weak spot, or it just flexes in use and causes fatigue cracking. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

My car goes in for repair on Monday. The garage has been busy and I’ve had to wait for over 2 weeks. Looks like the parts mentioned in Col’s post have been superseded. If I remember, I’ll try and get a picture of the old manifold. |

FYI, I had a leaking inlet manifold too, however, it was not split or cracked the usual place. Mine had "melted" around injector #8 due to carbon build up from the leaking injector. I.e "the black death" as the MB guys call it.. |
