Scotland 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Java Black
SatNav Help Please

Hi. I have a rather expensive Garmin (Avtex) Tourer satnav, great when towing the caravan. I love it but it wont work in my 2013 sport, nor would it work in my previous Velar or Jag XF. The reason is obviously the heated windscreen blocking the GPS signal. I don't want to go buy a new one only to find it wont work either. Can anyone tell me what you use that will work with the heated screen. I's like to stay with Garmin but as they cant be bothered answering emails, I would consider changing. Many thanks. 2013 SDV6 HSE Black Edition.
Everything black except the seats that WILL be changed.

Don't know about the unit you have, but I have both a Garmin Smartdrive 76 and a TomTom Go Discover 7" and they both work perfectly in my MY13 sport and hire cars when over in OZ.

Cheers

its your sat nav thats faulty...

the heated front screen will not affect the gps signal....try google maps on your phone or another stand alone sat nav and you will see..

Assuming your sat nav works outside the car then try one of these

Thanks for the replies folks. Yes it may be a faulty unit but it does work perfectly in other cars and you can see how many satellites it connects to. Google maps on my phone works fine in the RR.

I Cant use one of those jimbg - there is no socket on the unit to plug one in.

Guess the answer will be to buy one and try.

Thanks all. 2013 SDV6 HSE Black Edition.

I don't think those signal boosters actually plug into the unit, they boost the signal from outside the vehicle to the inside, but stand to be corrected

As Col says, you place one where you can get a GPS signal within the car and the it retransmits a strong GPS signal throughout the car.

It is the retransmitted signal that your sat nav picks up. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled
