Morning all. So I will be swapping to 45 profile and came across these on eBay. Have duratracs on the disco which are great and got them for a steal from Costco when they had them on offer last year. Does anyone have experience if either of the 2 tyres below?

Both sets are budget tyres,Radar being the worst of the 2 but to be honest,I wouldn’t fit either on a car this size. Andy.

I certainly wouldn't fit cheap tyres on a 2.5t SUV. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I'll echo what has already been said.

All the ABS/Traction Control/Brake Assist/WHY relies on a contact area about the same as a couple of pairs of flipflops.

Is yours (& your passengers) lives worth that saving ?

In the wet, the premium tyre stopped from 80km/h between 7m and 14m better than the budget tyres. IN the dry, it was still between 3 and 5m better.

That's the difference between stopping and crashing with some force - "The difference, around 7% or nearly a car length, means when you're stopped on the Continental you're "only" doing 26kmh on the tomket, and 34 km/h on the triangle! "

Choose will be grabber at3 or a decent dual purpose tyre for autumn/winter. Any decent alternatives that don’t cost the earth?

If you want an all season AT, the Grabber AT3 is a good choice. Works well enough off road, has decent enough manners on road, works well enough in snow (not that great on ice but then even dedicated winter tyres can struggle there too). Remembering, of course, that it's a compromised tyre on road so braking distances, etc., are longer than a pure road tyre.

I've been running Grabber AT3s for 6 or so years, never had a problem with them on or off road. I can be a "spirited" driver on the twistys and again they're perfectly fine and really nothing that a summer/performance tyre could get much better at NSL speeds.
Sure footed in wet weather, actually very good in snow, pulled quite a few people up hills and out of ditches around here.

I've found the Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventurer (silly name) to be very good on road so far. Can be driven in a quite spirited manner on road. Haven't tried off road yet, unfortunately, but it is the tyre LR fit to the new Defender if you take the all terrain option, so likely to be ok off road. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Got the Michilin CrossClimate 2 SUV on mine, look awesome (if thats your thing), very good in wet, Winter Tyre levels of Snow grip, not tried in muddy terrain yet, but they seem notchy enough to do better than a road type. Wearing extrememly well too, over 25k on mine, not even half worn.
