Poland 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Lux Fuji White

LR is the last place I’d take it. Their diagnostics flow chart will end with replacing every cable before long.

Yes, one breakdown in the canbus will cause havoc. Sometimes diagnostics can lead right to the issue, other times it’s more like looking through shower glass. With the issue we dealt with because it was a main bridge it had us chasing every module before getting to the connector.

Overall glad it worked out and is thus far working as it should for you. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory
Born and raised in So Cal. Moved to the UK in 2018 for a few years. Now in Poland and looking at moving back to the UK.

I suppose Noexpert your 'LR is the last place I’d take it. Their diagnostics flow chart will end with replacing every cable before long.', would pertain to other car manufacturers as well. When it comes to diagnostics the automotive/CAN electronics mix is not such a great marriage.

Would like to suggest troubleshooting CAN problems is too difficult for automotive repairers and auto electricians, not because of CAN itself is, but that CAN wiring makes it so.

When troubleshooting, a 'divide and conquer' approach is used, imagine if the CAN network wiring was such that easy accessible points on the network would allow isolation. For instance, a half way isolation point would allow detection on which half is at fault. One then drills down through the network.

This would simplify diagnostics and perhaps put it back in the hands of local repairers.

Recall a tractor manufacturer recently acquiescing to a 'right of repair'.

Of course these are just comments, but if there are enough mumbles and grumbles...
