3.6 TDV8 Inlet manifolds - genuine vs aftermarket

Hi Folks,

Apologies, no doubt this has been discussed many times before. I was just wondering what people think with regards to using genuine vs aftermarket inlet manifolds on the 3.6 TDV8.

Luckily I'm not in a position to need them at the moment but, I am starting to stock up on these type of items incase. I thought I'd have a look around at prices and I can't beleive that genuine items are now between £700 to £900+ each.

I know aftermarket parts are normally inferior quality but, has anybody fitted them and what are your opinion of them.

Many thanks

For the work (cost) of doing the job, I went for genuine, as the thought of getting issues with aftermarket items just wasn't worth the grief.

Also, genuine gets a 2 year warranty.

I can only vouch for genuine on a 3.0, but I called a shop that sells genuine and aftermarket before ordering mine. They said there were 68 warranty claims on aftermarket units and zero on genuine units with about the same sales numbers for each. I went with genuine. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

Many thanks for your feedback guys, much appreciated.

Most of the time I always try and get genuine parts, but as there is such a price difference with them and aftermarket I thought I'd ask. 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE Galway Green

Apparently the early ones were made using two pieces of plastic that were not the same thickness, and they split at the seam where they joined.

The later ones were made the same, but both pieces were of the same thickness.

I believe it is now not a problem.
