Engine Management Light

Fast drive from Northumberland to Derbyshire on Saturday and towards the end, Engine light on yellow and steady. Had to do couple of journeys yesterday, still on but this morning with a shopping trip of 2 miles there with light on, it went out at start of return journey. Still best to get it checked?

Just for info, the light reappeared the day after I had booked the car in for today and following investigation, they found blocked Map Sensor so cleaned that and throttle housing etc and all checked OK.
Any ideas on cause for blockage?
