Thanks Lionel,
The car is still in the garage doing the engine swop, hopefully the engine will fit being a 2015 2.7td will think they will have to swop almost everything over, might get away with the injectors with both being euro 4 engines
cheers Derek

Yes, there will be quite a few things to move over onto the new motor.

Territory has electric cooling fans, electric assisted steering, so a few changes at the front of the engine. I'm not sure about the electronics, but I think they will have to use the ECU from your old engine, &, of course, the bell housing - things like that.

Cheers,

Lionel

Good luck with the new engine. You have certainly done the sensible thing using a Territory 2.7 TDCi engine, as these were not used until 2012, which means a number of improvements were made over the 1st 2.7s fitted to D3s.

Apparently the crankshafts & main bearings were upgraded & the oil pump was uprated (in addition to the casing being strengthened). The Territory motor seems to be similar to the 2.7 in the "entry-level" D4, which seem to be more reliable. The 3L ones are a different story again, however(!).

Certainly the incidence of crankshaft/bearing failure in Territories here in AU is very rare compared to Discovery 3s & RR Sports.

Lionel

Hi Lionel
Got Sport back last week the 2.7TDCi engine is mint, already done a 1000 miles the garage did a great job of switching most things over, HP Fuel pump/Injectors/Waterpump did not need changing or coding, oil light goes out within 2 to 3 seconds before was 5 to 6 seconds and no rattle at start-up or smoke. starts first click, over the Easter did a long drive and did 1055km(652 miles) to tank of fuel with fuel light just coming on fuel computer was around 7.7L TO 100KM, all cam belts done also, egr deleted and removed and engine tuned, this engine fitted had only done around 119,000km or 73,000 miles, and out of a 2015 Ford Territory, very very happy, Ps: both engines were Euro 4 which i think made it a lot easier.

Great news! You should have a good run, as the motor you have had fitted seems good & is pretty low in Kms.

You have obviously found a good mechanic as well, so good luck!

Cheers,

Lionel
