Keyless Locking stopped working on driver’s door

Hi all,

So the keyless locking on the driver’s door doesn’t operate the locks when I touch it on the usual spot any more.

All the other doors work and the lock itself works fine and unlocks keylessly so it seems the sensor on the outside of the handle is to blame.

Unlike the L320, the L494 doesn’t seem to have handle covers that can be taken off - I was hoping to do this and perhaps clean underneath and it would work again.

Does anyone have any clever tricks to get this working again?!

Thanks a lot 2014 L494 V8 s/c Autobiography Dynamic

Mine stopped working a while ago but I think it was every door not just the drivers door. I pulled the fuse out relating to passive entry and left it out for a few minutes then put it back in. Been working ok ever since. I think it’s related to the KVM module, maybe needed a de power to reset it. The fuse is in the fuse box in the boot area.

You can remove the outer cover, unfortunately it would appear you have to remove the complete handle first as the cover is retained by to small screws at one end.

Thanks both of you - very helpful.

I’m not sure why but I’ve decided - as a first move - that I’m going to try using a hairdryer to warm up the handle tomorrow and possibly dislodge/dry-out any moisture lurking between the cover and the handle/locking sensor.

Next move will be as Col suggests! 2014 L494 V8 s/c Autobiography Dynamic

I have this exact problem, did you ever find a fix?

I've tried pulling the KVM fuses but no joy, it started intermittently last summer and now it will only unlock and not lock using the driver's door handle sensors. All other doors are fine as is the remote.

Another issue seems to have reared its ugly head in that as I approach the drivers side the vehicle unlocks automatically when I'm still 6 feet away? This is coinciding with the battery draining overnight from full to completely dead. I have to leave it on a smart charger overnight, even after replacing both main and auxiliary batteries.

Mine is an early 2014 HSE and I've had it for 3 1/2 years with very little trouble until this issue.

You could try disconnecting the battery and leave for 20 mins then reconnect . It may re boot something. It’s what I would do before taking to a garage. These are complex cars and just need a re boot every now and again just like my PC………

Never found a cure. It works about 50% of the time and I can lock it with any other handle so haven’t bothered getting too serious about it.

Sounds to me like one of your door handles permanently “thinks” your hand is trying to open it and therefore as you approach the car, the car unlocks itself.

I guess both issues are prob related…. 2014 L494 V8 s/c Autobiography Dynamic

I've got mine booked in with the local main dealer on 10th May for an outstanding recall on the keyless locking system, so I'll see what happens after that's done.

Don know if it will sort all my problems but I know they are replacing the KVM and doing a reprogram on it all. 2014 L494 HSE

Outstanding recall? How did you find out about that? I wonder if my car needs doing?

So recall work has finally been done and the problem is still there, if anything it's worse now. Getting out the car as soon as the driver's door is closed it goes into a mad spasm of trying to lock and unlock until I get out of range of the door. Nightmare!!! 2014 L494 HSE
