3.6 TDV8 - Front and rear disc replacement - Meyle

Good morning,

I'm looking at replacing the front and rear discs and pads on my 2010 3.6 RRS. I've found that AF can supply a kit by Meyle, has anyone used these and what are peoples thoughts.

I had read that Brembo are recommended but, I've only found one supplier on ebay and they only supply drilled discs for my model as a kit.

Many thanks

Never heard of Meyle so can't comment but I use https://www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk They do discs/pads for motorsport uses but also provide for "fast road" for any other vehicle. I currently have their grooved discs/matching pads on my RRS and whilst a Brembo equipped RRS is not short on stopping power, these add an extra level of comfort and ability. Just waiting for the front discs on my XC70 to wear a bit more and I'll be going there for those too.

I don't think you can go wrong with Meyle parts,, they do a good range of parts for suspension etc and while not being the most expensive they are certainly better than the cheap options they even have heavy duty options for some drop links and the likes I believe. 2010 RRS, TDV8

have you tried Euro car parts and German and Swedish, both do Brembos (for L494 at least) at reasonable prices with the right codes. Joined the X5 45e club

Meyle have a handy online catalogue of their parts too, with options for things like pads. Perhaps worth a look at if you're interested.

Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I'd be surprised if Brembo put up with that. Or do you mean that they're branded ECP and come from China? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

If anyone goes onto Brembo's own web site looking for discs/pads etc. they have a listing for their aftermarket discs, if you want to click on it, it actually takes you to a Chinese web site for the discs, so I assume even Brembo's own aftermarket discs are made in China. They do not list drilled/vented discs for the Sport either, so rightly or wrongly I suspect some firms have simply taken the discs to a machine shop and had them machined with grooves and drilled put them back in the original brembo supplied box and pass them off as original drilled and grooved Brembo's.

Cheers
Col

To be honest I'd be happy with just standard discs, not drilled and grooved. 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE Galway Green

I once ran drilled discs on a hot hatch that I used to thrash around the place (I was young and stupid, ok!). They made 3/5ths of Censored all difference unless I really, really tried. I doubt they'd make any difference at all on an RRS unless it is being driven by someone looking for a DWDCA penalty...even the SVR has solid discs - they're just bigger. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The previous owner of my D2 TD5 installed drilled and grooved discs even though he only drove it on the road. I must admit they've lasted well as I've owned it for the last 10 years. 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE Galway Green

Drilled and grooved discs wouldn't be much use off road, I'd guess. Imagine the grooves / holes filling up with grit / stones and then getting dragged in to the pads. Recipe for a very short, and squeaky, brake life. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The only time it goes off road is when it's on the drive or in the garage Very Happy 2010 RRS 3.6 TDV8 HSE Galway Green
