Running boards removal and repair

Morning All. 2013 L494. The plastic trim on my running boards is coming adrift. Is there an "idiots guide" to the removal and replacement?. I want to clean them up, treat the rust and paint them, and repair the broken rivets.

Cheers
Phil.

I did mine recently, easy. Put car up to max height. From memory there are 3 brackets supporting the steps. Do not remove the brackets. Just remove the steps from the brackets (either 3 or 6 screws. Take it easy as they will be rusted. Give the steps a pull & they are off. Front edge is a bit harder, think I opened the door slightly to help, but no drama. My side finishers were fine unlike yours. Lots of rust, comes off easy enough. I put on rust preventative then some really decent enamel type paint.
