Over the last couple of weeks (since the cold weather), I've had a few occasions when, after travelling 300 yards, I get all the bongs and lights and 'engine management failure', 'transmission failure' 'hdc' failure... the 'kin lot!

That issue is straight out of the Disco 3 list of things that go wrong. Its always a cold winter's morning on first starting the vehicle and traveling about 150 yards. The electrical systems all fail in a cascade effect (including limp home mode - so be careful if you live 150 yards from a busy junction ). A simple stop and restart sorts it out. The issue seems to be low voltage from a cold battery, compounded by having lots of electrical accessories (heated screens, heated seats, wipers, fans, lights etc) all on at start up. Its a - but it goes away as soon as your battery is in tip top condition or the temperature rises above 3 degrees C. |
