In the meantime what are the awaiting RRS owners expected to do .
Just wait for the outcome and be clobbered —or change brands ,
Could say that it was a state of urgency for LR to quickly get their act together or loose big business.

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 Autobiography Bonatti Grey

This news is gradually catching wind and soon this will become a real factor to consider before signing up for this car.

Initially new owners will just transfer over their existing policy for their new car with possibly with little or no change .
It’s then on next renewal they could feel the crunch .
Speaking to dealerships they naturally have concern but cannot change or indeed comment.
They I am sure like us - are waiting for LR’s next move (if any )

According to this article in Autocar Land Rover are looking to introduce an insurance product.

RRS sold and replaced with a Skoda Kodiaq after appalling RR Dealer experience and LR inability to supply new cars in any sort of reasonable time frame..

This is exactly what happened to me.

Well ladies and gents… if you are considering buying a Land Rover product I would now being reconsidering.. or if you own one now it’s time to sell quickly before it bites you and your car is devalued to nothing…
I have been loyal to the brand for many many years and have four in the family…

I have just had my insurance renewal come through with Axa although I was already concerned reading people’s comments and having my cheapest Confused.com’s quotes come through in the last few days..

Axa previously have been brilliant at renewal time and they have always been cheaper each year than the other companies on Confused and Compare the Market etc.. hence been with them for many years..

I am 59 yrs old, a senior manager, live in Sevenoaks, with a clean licence and 20+ years no claim bonus.. last year my policy with Axa for my SVR for a 20,000 mile business use policy was £645. Today they are inviting renewal at £2420!

Whilst it’s a fantastic car can I justify this.. probably not…

Time to sell? If you were thinking of getting out you need to do it fast before values free fall…

At last we have a member who has seen the light .
Yes we will have owners who will just shrug if off with a comment like” it may not effect me,”
Especially when they are being told from dealers — It’s such a desirable car and that’s the reason it is being stolen — BS
Or the comment “ you are purchasing a£100K car — surely you can afford £3K .BS
My advice is to do your homework— speak to the trade — speak to service —
Unfortunately Sad Days are ahead .

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Cairns Blue

Mine is due at the end of May. It will be interesting to see if the hike is also applied to those of us driving vintage vehicles. I'm 53 and pay £179 with Admiral on a multicar/house policy.

There are mutterings on the FF forum not too dissimilar and the A plan 4x4 friendly insurer has lost its way with prices. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

I am starting to wonder if there is another motive to this ridiculous high insurance, is this the way things are going if you dare to have something nice other than say a full Electric car.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

I renewed earlier this year and, because I changed insurer, the price dropped markedly to around £300. But then it's a 10yo SDV6 and not in the deepest South East (from where it seems most of the horror stories are coming). Perhaps it's just not desirable? (fingers crossed I haven't just jinxed it!)

Be interesting to see what happens next year. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Think it’s probably something to do with the 490 Range Rovers / Sports stolen in February 2023 alone…

This will bite JLR big time unless they get a handle on it quick…

Couldn’t agree with you more — regarding LR needs to get a handle on it.
However I am sure they are thinking — Oh we have a large order book — so someone is sure to buy .
That decision could be their downfall — How important is it for them to protect the brand?.

They're desirable vehicles, that's part of the problem. I thought JLR had got to the bottom of the keyless theft issue with the L494. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I renewed in January for a 15 plate on a joint policy with my defender, I was expecting a hike but it only went up £20. However others I know have had huge hikes on everything from freelanders to M5s, it’s not just LR, it’s everyone, as was mentioned further up the thread Joined the X5 45e club
