INSURANCE SCARE

As previously mentioned anyone about to purchase a new RRS will most certainly be very surprised with their insurance quote .
Yes all car insurance has increased this year but what an increase on the RRS .
Previously quoted Dec last year — £550 .
This year for the sum of £2450 .
Yes I could get insured under £1000 from a suspect companies who I am sure I would not get the right return from a claim .
So I then contacted a national broker and this was at £1850.
So it seems that poor security has finally caught up with LR .
Sorry they will be unable to sell cars if their customers have to pay more to insure their RRS 3ltr diesel / petrol than a Ferrari supercar .
Would like to know from others regarding their experience but I am seriously reconsidering my purchase .
Finally it must be noted that the new RRS is a superb car which unfortunately is being undervalued by its inadequate security.
Sad Day .

England 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Firenze Red

I am afraid the Range Rover sport has become a red flag to main insurers, I sold my one recently and I don’t think I’ll buy another, my Land Rover Discovery is creeping up on the insurance as well, the broker told me a lot of insurance companies are not insuring Range Rover sports anymore, on another note when I went to sell my sport I tried to get the private plate off of it on line, DVLA would not let me saying I needed to fill out a form and send it to them so someone could check the details, they all so said I may have to have the vehicle checked, in the end I left the plate on it and sold to a dealer.

Many thanks Crs for your comments— much appreciated.
However it’s a shame that you are the.only one prepared to reply .
Perhaps everyone else is already aware of the concern and don’t want to comment.

There have been several posts about rising insurance costs recently. . This might confirm your thoughts around the general awareness here and could also explain the number of responses to your own post. If you do a search you'll find the other threads with pages of comments on the subject. Barrie.

Yes this subject has been posted a lot recently, especially with the potential owners of The new RRS. It’s certainly putting a few people off buying them, especially in the London area.

Aviva and NFU will NOT insure the Range Rover Sport — UNBELIEVABLE.

It’s ridiculous. I am with Adrian Flux on my other 2 land Rovers , the Range Rover Sport is going to be killed off by insurance companies, I know people joke about them being drug dealer vehicles but it’s not actually a joke. I was in the market for a new vehicle but I wouldn’t buy a new sport now.

After your comment and having a new car on order for June delivery I thought I better speak to NFU about insurance. I've been with them for several years and have two other cars on the policy together with Home Insurance. There reply was that in my circumstances there will be no issue with me insuring the car with them with no significant price increase.
I guess that its new business they are refusing.
Lets hope that when it does arrive things are the same.

RRS sold and replaced with a Skoda Kodiaq after appalling RR Dealer experience and LR inability to supply new cars in any sort of reasonable time frame..

Tim ,
It seems with NFU they will only accept existing policies but not new .
My concern would be how much future policies will be priced.
However it’s still concerning regarding the brand and would think LR will assist by introducing their insurance cover .

After seeing this today I thought I had better get a quote from NFU myself - £860 for a 440e (used reg plate from one for sale by a dealer) in rural Lancashire, garaged, which isn't great but half the price of a Tesla Model S (that i also got a quote on) and, oddly, one third cheaper than the six year oil Volvo XC90 T8 that I am currently using with market value one third the RRS! Though currently insuring that with Volvo insurance for £500...

Have just emailed dealer to see if the inclusion of a towbar is going to delay things into 2024 as suggested on another thread...

Land Rover will still need to find an underwriter with appetite for the risk.

The fact that they haven't offered new insurance since November suggests they're struggling in this regard.
