Spain 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Sumatra Black

Hi Wojtek,

Do you mean a Range Rover dealership? It's ridiculously bad, even by Spanish standards.

It took me 3 weeks to get a reply to an email about getting the car checked for the initial 'Restricted Performance' error message. It then took me another 4 weeks to get an appointment, but when I turned up, they had no recollection of the appointment. It took me six months to get a simple part for the back of my car (the tow bar cover had been stolen) - they kept ordering exactly the same piece which was for a much newer model. Eventually (after 4 identical mistakes) they ordered the correct part.

Dealing with them is like the worst of endurance tests.

I'm pretty sure this is turbo related but now I've got to figure out where to take the car and how to get an honest judgement on the core issue - the seals, the pipe or the actual turbo. 90% of mechanics here will say it's the turbo; some without even looking.

Thanks again all......you're all amazing.

Portugal 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Cairns Blue

I see there are some 4x4, ATV, and off-road activities in your area, might be worth sounding them out. They must have some suppliers and partners??

When I moved here to the deep rural north of Portugal I spoke to the local police and fire service who use 4x4's a lot. They signposted me to the garage that does their repairs. I found the place just outside of Viana do Castelo. They are simply brilliant. Old school, experienced with 4x4s and restoration specialists. They have the contract for all the emergency vehicles in the region and the bigger insurance companies use them for accident repairs. As well as being able to order parts from manufacturers they also have a couple of guys there who are known to make replacement parts on site!! They also have an apprenticeship programme with colleges. The labour costs here are a fraction of those in the UK. All work is invoiced and guaranteed. Not much help to you Nick but I'd look out for some 4x4s and see where they get their work done. Might not be the best option but it could lead somewhere. Barrie.

Quick reply: I got it sorted out. It was a carbon build up due to most of my driving being short 3-5 mile journeys.

Nice, glad you got it taken care of. You need to start giving it a weekly Italian Tune Up to keep it cleared out as well as you can. Weird you got the faults you did with it being a bit carbined up. Also very hard to diagnose without the car in front of you. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory
