Don’t think so. Or not easily. I could take the whole thing off I suppose.

Yes I think that’s right. My plan at the moment is to use the machine polisher with compound to try and get an acceptable standard of finish to the strips. Appreciate that the car is 13 years old so it obviously doesn’t need to look new. I would prefer not to have to pay for a new set of steps if I can possibly avoid it. The weather tomorrow looks a fair bit better so all being well, I intend to make a start on this and would hope to have a result by the end of the weekend. I’ll post some more pics when I have some useful progress to report. Gone: 10MY L320 RR Sport HSE, Ipanema Sand

The actual trim part is quite easy to remove as they are only held on by about 8-10 alloy pop rivets which are easy to chop off, the trims quite often fall off on their own due to corrosion of the rivets. |

Well, I've now spent some more time and elbow grease on these finishers, I'm not impressed TBH, RH one has polished up but has pitting, LH one won't polish to a shine at all. RH one and LH one seem to be different, presumably one was replaced some time in the past.

Might be that of course, yes. I think I might paint these strips. They look pretty crap as they are. Gone: 10MY L320 RR Sport HSE, Ipanema Sand

My left hand trim has just started to come off, how do I rivet along it, or is it a case of remove the black cap and put a single rivet in the end? 2010 HSE TdV8 in Stornoway Grey. Powerful Roof Rails and Spare Wheel protector |

You get at the old rivets from underneath the step.
