2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black
Harry’s Garage D350 AB review

 Current: Cayenne GTS (got fed up with waiting for LR to build my third RRS)
On order: RRS3 510e AB
Gone: RRS SDV8 AB, RRS SDV6, Vauxhall Nova 1.0, Nova 1.3 SR, Nova 1.4 SRi, Renault Laguna (why?), BMW 318is coupe (fabulous - despite having to buy a radio and tape player for it from Halfords), 323i saloon, 325ti compact (superb), 320td compact (awful), VW Golf 2.0d 4Motion (all the car you really need), BMW 120d compact (excellent), 118d compact (slow), 335d coupe (rapid)

I guess it depends on what you want your RRS to be. Seemed like the review showed the RRS to be what it is - a big, comfortable SUV that is competent across country on a twisty road but not a sports cars, practical, capable, etc.. What it isn't is a sports car or even a competitor of the likes of the Cayenne.

Interesting that he said it had the Stormer pack on it but that's not available on the configurator for a D350 AB. Makes me wonder what exactly he did have. And, as he says, the fitting of all season tyres will dull the handling a little as one might expect.

And as for Harry's reviews, one thing he does do well is honesty about the vehicle he has in front of him. He even has a go at Ferrari and they are well known for being unhappy with bad reviews - and he still gets his hands on their cars. He's respected for a reason. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Interesting Harry mentioned the RRS off road capability several times, but did not take it into the field with the hill to try it!

Would be interesting to see how it compares with his old FFRR in the field, and a shame the defender has gone back as that would have been interesting…

Unless it has the optional two-speed transfer case specified, it'll be hampered off road compared to the FFRR and the Defender.

To be honest, so few go off road, it's a fairly irrelevant thing to look at in a review. One might even argue that LR's continual insistence on making all of their cars off road capable means they lose to their real competition - the Audi, BMW and Porsche alternatives - on the road.

If I buy another LR it'll either be a L494 or a L405. I doubt I'll go to the L461 as the electric highway will be more attractive by then. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Harry criticised the car itself, not so much but mainly LRs marketing and positioning of the vehicle in the LR lineup. 07MY RRS TDV6

They have made it a cheaper, slightly smaller (but not much) version of the Full Fat. The previous version seemed to be more Sport than Range Rover, as it should be. Now it's more Range Rover Lite. LR's range is now basically a line up of Range Rovers of various flavours (that includes, strangely, the Discovery which is more like a fat Range Rover than a true Discovery), the Disco Sport and the Defender. It's all very much skewed in the direction of "luxury" and "premium".

Of course, if they don't sort out their supply issues, it's all moot anyway as they are unable to build and sell them to anyone. Rolling Eyes 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I found him a bit contradictory - "it's too expensive but what they should have done is price it above the Full Fat..." and "the all weather tyres are spoiling it but they are great - I have them on other cars and they work year round and decently in snow". Someone above has already mentioned he didn't try it off road (which he normally does)

He'd perhaps be better off in the 440e - if he likes the 400e RR he already has (which he seems to) then the RRS 440e is kind of on a par with that money wise (missing out on the upward jump in FFRR price) but with more RV range and decent interior and boot room

But maybe i was just offended that he seemed underwhelmed with the next car I have on order and so I went looking for things to criticise Smile

And dont forget the in house competition from F and E pace. Not quite the same i know, but competition when you walk into the showroom if you dont really know what you want / need…

I see Harry did like the F-Pace SVR.

I'd like to see him review the 500bhp RRS to see whether his opinion changes. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
