You can always look under the car and check the brackets, never heard of one failing though 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Mine are going and will need a new set next year. I noticed a rusty flap hanging down and had a look underneath. The mounting brackets are rusty but ok, whereas the underneath of the foot panel is decidedly patchy. I’ve had this set on 6 years now. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |

Mine is a 2007 running boards fitted from new , no signs of being weakened at all. |

The side steps are decently robust and certainly up to being stood on - that's what they're for, after all. I used to have them on my TDV8 (they were on when I bought it) and they survived some off road work pretty well - went around Eastnor LRE and even though they rubbed on the sides of tracks, and over humps, they never failed.
