Spolier Recall

My RRS is in tomorrow for the rear spoiler recall, the black plastic has separated from the painted upper and is flapping around. Hopefully they'll resolve it, however, always the opportunist, my reverse camera is faulty and displays back to front. I understand this is a known fault and replacing the camera is the next step, I wonder if there's anyway I can take advantage of this situation...

For balance, I've been told to rip the spoiler off, throw it down the drive to scratch it and take it with you. That seems a bit extreme! What are peoples experiences with the recall? Is there more replacements than repairs? Can I facilitate a replacement, if an accident were to occur obviously...

Thanks!

I very much doubt they will repair anything other than what is outlined on the recall. 9 times out of ten they will just glue the two parts of the spoiler together,, couple of hours,,, thats what happened to mine. I think the spoiler would have to be missing before they would consider replacement. 2010 RRS, TDV8
bali Blue / colour coded
side steps / flappy paddles
black perforated leather
22" overfinch
heated everything, TV,fridge ...... now with gold calipers and mud flaps !( black mud flaps that is) !!

Landrover have just authorised complete replacement of my spoiler (including painting) and replacement of the lower panel (where you lift the tail gate) including painting. Not some dodgy repair.

Dave, in case you were wondering the spoiler re-call doesn't apply to the Autobiography models.

Cheers

They did mine, and it has a dealer fit Autobiography kit fitted.

I would assume they check the chassis number to get authorisation, so maybe what it left the dealer with seems more likely than what it left the factory with.

I would have though if it left the factory as a HSE that is what their records would say and the dealer would have checked based on the Vin. No. out of interest did they actually repair or replace the spoiler? as there is no mention of A/B spoilers in the bulletin, although there was a bulletin for the A/B spoiler although that affected MY12/13 cars and was a totally different issue and the recall ended end 2014 I believe.

Cheers
Col

Hi Col

They repaired it. The 'split' was only apparent when the weather was warm enough for it to separate, although the camera would never stay in position.

All ticketyboo now.

There is no recall in Australia. Landrover are carrying out the replacement as a goodwill exercise.
