What is this for??

Good Morning everyone, as you know i'm new to the RRS forum, so as I've just purchased a L320 5.0 SC AB and as i was checking out the under side at the back end where the tow bar is and noticed theses weights one on each chassis rail so i'm thinking it's something to do with a removable towbar mounts. i'm hoping that someone here can enlighten me to what they are Question Question

I belive (don't know how true )
but The weights hanging in front of the rear bumper are to counteract resonate frequency vibrations coming from the frame of the LR3.

Indeed so - harmonic mass dampers. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks so much for clearing that up, the mind boggles about the reason....just a little more weight to add to the heavy vehicle. Anyway it is what it is. I do believe that the body comes off the chassis with some degree of workmanship, i suppose if i was to do work on back of engine or transmission it would be a great thing to lift body off....as did the Ford F-250's in today's world.

So is it only the 5.0 that has these?

No there on the diesels as well, the TDV8 with four pot brembo's have some bolted on the front caliper as well although slightly smaller. Laughing

Cheers
