Test Dive RRS - 440e - 350d

Previously done the 440e test but now this week I had the opportunity to try the 350 D autobiography.
What a week firstly the Hybyid which was superb — lovely design with great interior .
Observations- - found the car slightly floaty — the hybrid seemed slightly clinical with switch over options .
Traveled some 100 miles with 70/ 30 mix of motorway and country roads . But also thought that the hybrid was much closer to the non hybrid in MPG.
This was 2 days later followed by the 350 D Autobiography.
The engine with this model was superb — great acceleration- and with a wonderful V8 sound .—
Yes that engine would be my choice but you can only obtain by going Autobiography .
Now that’s a shame as I am sure it just a chip upgrade over the 300D .
As previously mentioned one of my concerns was the floaty ride in both cars .
The Hybrid is some 56 stone heavier over the petrol/ diesel and that’s massive and does not help the ride .
However I soon realised that by placing the ride in Dynamic the ride became superb .
It’s a shame that on the RRS the dynamic ride was not geared to standard with comfort available to select - yes the opposite.
Finally both cars I thought were superb — whatever one you have selected you will not be disappointed.
Just a shame most of us have a long wait .
Hope my review has been helpful but please let us hear your comments/thoughts as they are much appreciated.
Happy Days

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

If you do lots of motorway miles - as in your test drive - a hybrid isn't that great. Hybrids work best where you can use regen and the electric motor to slow and speed the car in traffic, on country roads / urban roads. On motorways, you're much more reliant on the ICE for most of the work and so the MPG is going to move towards that of an ICE equivalent.

You say the 350D has a V8 sound - isn't it a straight 6? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
