Wheel damaged by tyre fitters.

Had 2 front tyres fitted, good I thought a nice new pair of boots. Only to notice after only 2 journeys and less than 60 miles damaged front alloys caused by the fitters machine (accidents happen) but was told on the phone they would refurb the damage 👍, but wait James from tyre2you.co.uk deny his machine or fitter caused it now and then goes on to suggest kurb damage 🤣🤣 avoid I will be and NOT recommending …

Oh well lessons learned I suppose, especially with black alloys. Photos just before it gets done and an immediate inspection afterwards. Can the tyres actually be changed without scuffing?, not being in the trade or having solid knowledge. Being pragmatic, they’re going to tell you to poke off after those miles…… 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Sorry to hear your misfortune, always check your alloys before hey touch them and check again when they have fitted the new tyres.

In reply to Stevepd's question about removing the tyres without scuffing, it can be done quite easily. My local tyre fitter has a machine that is fitted with a roller that pushes the tyre of the rim to break the seal and then picks up the tyre without ever touching the rim. I asked him about not marking my alloys as they were diamond cut, he said no problem and took me through to see the machine in operation first. This is why I have always gone to him for tyres for all my cars.

Pretty difficult to damage the tyres - however, the wheels are a different story................

Not at all, of course accidents happen, but I have never had damage done to wheels whilst changing tyres on BMWs with really low profile, discos or RRS. Unfortunately these days, there are too many that won’t own up to their mistake and leave it to you to notice Joined the X5 45e club

Like everything, with the correct tools and a proficient operator, there should be no damage.

The fitter was/is a knob, and/or his equipment was crap, no excuses.

My moneys on the former.
