Coincidentally, during the recent hot spell I noticed that mine wasn't working very well. Its always on auto climate control. Started to ring round and got a lot of wildly different prices and timescales.

The airconditioning in my 2010 TDV8 has never worked that well since new. In summer I regularly have to run the system at maximum fan speed with recirculation on otherwise the inside temp is cooking. I suspect the system is only sized for "typical european temperatures".

No, something wrong with it. My old RRS1 used to cope with 30 degrees plus with no problem. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Should I just go for a regas or would it be better to go for the full service due to its age? |

I suspect you have a problem - my 2007 TDV6 with 250,000km has never had the A/C worked on and it is icey cold in very hot summer weather. At temp extremes refrigerated A/C should be run on recirc just like it is in houses to maximise its efficiency as cooling 45c outside temps is just a waste of energy. When I hop into a hot car I open the windows to quickly bring inside temps down to outside temps and then close the windows and let the A/C do its thing - in milder temps normally on fresh air but on temp extremes always on recirc with the occasional switch to fresh air to extract stale air in the cabin. 07MY RRS TDV6 Arctic Frost Aspen Interior |

Just measure the temperature coming out of the vents with the airconditioning on (speed 3 with recycle on). It should be about 5-6 deg C.

Where I live we get the same high summer temps as you and I have no issues - you clearly have an issue. My aircon works as good as my brothers previous 200 Series Sahara and as good as his current Chev Silverado. I think it is time to get your airocn checked and serviced. 07MY RRS TDV6

The airconditioning works fine upto the mid 30's after that it starts to struggle with the higher temperatures. Maybe they made changes to the aircon system between 2007 (yours) and 2010 (mine). |

My 2011 3.0 TDV6 has no problem getting the interior ice cold, so doubt it’s a 2010-2013 thing. Maybe a defect from the factory and you’ve just suffered through it? In 30°+ temps it takes my car about 20 minutes to cool down to the point the fan slows down. I keep the temp set around 21°, much lower than that and I need to wear warmer clothes than shorts and a T shirt. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

With 5-6 deg C air comming out of the air vents I dont think there is a problem with the A/C system. As I mentioned previously with temperatures upto low to mid 30's the system works fine, above that it struggles especially in city traffic. I run the system manually and always have the temperature set to 17 C. In the summer months I regularly see the outside temperature gauge above 40 deg C. |

What you have to remember is that if the correct amount of gas is not in the system it will never work the way it should. Having such a small capacity any shortfall in charge makes a huge difference in operation. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I do agree that sitting at idle it has trouble keeping up. I think this is due to the BMS that was added in 2009/2010. I believe it cuts back the A/C compressor to reduce emissions. To get around it I nudge the accelerator to raise the RPMs a little, this usually keeps it going full speed. It also seems to cut out the A/C compressor if I jump on the accelerator. I think this is to free up power and ultimately reduce emissions.

The 2010 TDV8 does not have BMS as it was a legacy engine from previous generations. Also the colour of a car has no bearing on the amount of heat absorbed. |

Not sure you are right about that.
