New model question (right thread this time)

order Report post
Hi, thinking of ordering the new model. Currently have the SVR but not going to wait for the new version and I’ve (reluctantly) come to the decision that all that power (that u can never really use) is a bit of a waste of money and in reality just ticks the boy racer box, which at 56, I ain’t no more Neutral It’s obviously a fantastic car but doesn’t come cheap and does tick the ‘look at me, I’m driving the top model…’ box Rolling Eyes
Which brings me to my point, which model would be best for me? I’ve looked at the list and there are a lot to choose from! I think the 0-60 in 6secs plus would be a bit of a culture shock (what was that about boy racers?) but there are a few models that quote 5.4 which would fit the bill I think.
I’m thinking of going with the no cost option white finish and getting it wrapped in matte black and the only two options being the black 23” alloys and the carbon interior (with black leather).
Not really interested in the hybrid model, I will go for all electric when the time comes.
They start at the £80K figure so would ideally like to spend between £80/90k.
Hate to think what the new SVR is going to come in at when even the V8 version is around the £120K mark!
Really like the new shape btw, the old one has become very dated now.
Any pointers would be appreciated, thanks.

So with the P530 not available and you are reluctant to go Hybrid what are your options ?
You only have Diesel left .
Am I correct or have I missed something.
Although like you I am unsure what model to choice.
Should I go Hybrid although companies like Porsche are now selling less Hybrid with electric coming soon on SUV ( first being Macon)
Another option is to go Diesel as I am sure there will be a market for this model for many years yet .
All this makes good discussion but unfortunately it gives you another excuse to hold off buying now .

Thanks for that Blackbird.
So diesel or hybrid it is then!
I’ve had a couple of macans in the past, one being the turbo, nice cars but not in the same bracket as the rrs, especially not now given the sport 3’s arrival. And I’ve never been a fan of the cumbersome looking Cayenne (or the sports back version).
I’ll need to take a look but I’m guessing there are different choices for the diesel/hybrid models too?

Why not go for the P400 petrol engine, is a great motor and 400bhp keeps it moving. Tim
RRS sold and replaced with a Skoda Kodiaq after appalling RR Dealer experience and LR inability to supply new cars in any sort of reasonable time frame..

Completely support going for the P400 - the 3 litre ingenium in line supercharged 6. You can try it in the current RRS in the HST model, maybe not as rapid as an SVR, but way more economical and pretty quick (5.4secs). I’ve a current HST and averaged around 30 mpg over the last 1500 miles, but it still has plenty of go when I need it! Almost sounds as good as a SVR, but am sure it’ll seem muted to anyone whose driven the current V8!

Thanks for the advice.
The P400 sounds like the way to go, wonder what sort of delivery it is at present?

I've just ordered a new car and was told to expect a 1 year wait.

Swiggy,
You've done far better than me on fuel consumption, average for daily use 22mpg, a recent trip to Provence and back not driving particularly quickly gave.26.5 mpg although the trip computer was showing over 30mpg. I reckon it reads 4mpg better all the time. Tim

I've seen in another post somewhere someone ordering in June and being quoted a November delivery.
One year is crazy!

He was posting from France so it seems strange that the delivery over there would be quicker than here?!
Anyway, I’m contemplating a big change and have decided to take a look at the new (big daddy) Range Rover. Have had sports for ages so it might be a nice change.

I believe that there were a number of first edition cars available prior to the general launch. I'm sure its been mentioned on here. The drawback for the earlier delivery is price, starts at £112k. Tim
