Ive found the engine number on the little stainless steel plaque that's mounted high up, near the front on the engine near the cam cover, but is there an engine number stamped into the engine block itself - and if so, where can I find it?

Asking because the car is being exported and we need to know....

Engine number: 2L diesel: The number is located on the top of the engine. V6 diesel: The number is located on the front of the left-side camshaft cover. V8 diesel: The number is located on the top of the engine, on the left side of the inlet manifold.

Thanks, I found the stainless steel tab near the cam cover already but searching for the engine number stamped into teh block is another matter entirely - there is SO MUCH STUFF jammed in there it's almost impossible to see anything!

Very rare to actually find an engine number on the block. Most of the time it has corroded and can't be seen.

Just go with the tag on the top of the engine and check your V5C to see if they match. If you PM me your reg number, ,I'll look it up for you. Joe
