Pre-Heater - dilemma ?!?

2006 Sport. 95,000 miles. My desire is to keep it in good order. Now the problem! I am visiting the UK next month and was considering buying a new Pre-Heater at a cost of £888.00. Since I had the quote the price has gone up to £1,200.00!! 1) I could leave the present one on the engine and keep it disconnected. 2) Perhaps take off the Pre-Heater, plank off its connection to the engine and find someone to give it a service. 3) Lash out £1,200 on a new one. Taking the less painful option i.e. leaving things as they are without the Pre-Heater working - would that be detrimental to the engine or noticeably effect its performance?? Andrew Kennedy

I purchased a second hand one. £84.00 + £25.00 postage (to France). + £25.00 Import Duty and guess what.....It didn't work. So don't really want to go down that route again. Andrew Kennedy

Are you near any boatyards?

The basic unit is used as a diesel heater in small boats, maybe there is someone who could fix it? 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

Hi,

it might be worth you adding to your other 2 posts about this rather than starting another thread on the same thing Question

that way others can see what has been suggested already and can add to it with more ideas/help rather than what has already been said.

It also means you will have to let us know what you do decide to do Laughing

good luck either way Thumbs Up Porsche Cayenne 2022

Have you thought about doing a repair / refurb rather than a full replacement?

Excellent write up here https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic136766.html in a thread from Robbie on the Disco3 sister site. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

The chances of ordering something and expecting to collect it in one week is unlikely at
Present.

Removing yours to get it fixed sounds a good option
