Generally speaking only Cat5 and Cat6 trackers are accepted and Ghost is not recognised by insurance companies. MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)

But get a ghost anyway, as the tracker won’t stop them. current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver

As above, insurance companies don’t recognise the ghost. Which baffles me as surely a system preventing the theft is better than one which doesn’t (ie a tracker).

Get a ghost anyway and at least you have peace of mind, albeit a slightly more expensive premium 🤷‍♂️😂.

Just to add to my earlier reply and as pointed out by the others, still get a Ghost fitted. MY17 RRS 4.4d V8 Autobiography - Aintree Green (also referred to on Topix as British Racing Green)

Thanks for the replies, I had the ghost fitted a few months ago,and I echo the comments, definitely recommend getting that fitted for your own piece of mind.

Is an independent tracker better for insurance than the Land Rover one? The JLR website says.....

Land Rover Secure Tracker is Thatcham Category S7 Compliant and Secure Tracker Pro is Thatcham Category S5 compliant. Having them activated on your vehicle may qualify you for a discount on your insurance premium.

Surely any S5 is good enough for the insurance companies??? MY16 3.0 SDV6 Autobiography in Aleutian silver, stealth pack and toys.

You are correct in saying any s5 /s7 is good enough for an insurer discount. The reason people are suggesting an independently fitted one instead is that the thieves know where the factory fitted ones are put. An independent fitter may well put it somewhere else, so harder for the thieves to circumvent. current: RRS HST P400 engine ( 2021) Hakuba silver
