The cheap £35.00 one's are made of cheese, buy either Timken or SKF and don't pay dealer prices.

As Col says, buy the better bearing and then get an indie to fit it for you. Or just go to an indie and ask them what they fit and, assuming it's a good one, how much to do it.

Thanks fellas! Much obliged for all your input. I’ll look up the brands mentioned above. One more Q while on the subject if I may please. I am thinking of tackling this job myself at home. I’ve a reasonable skill set and good set of tools. I’ve been into Mk2 Golfs for ages and have always worked on them myself, including clutch changes and cylinder heads etc. would you recommend DIY-ing or a garage job? Cheers. |

Hi I think you will be more than able to do it yourself with your previous experience on the Advanced factors page it informs you of the revised torque settings for the drive shaft hub nut .I have put a link below to a selection of excellent information on the RRs.

I fitted an Optimal one from Advanced when I had my L320. I don't believe they sell them any more though. Kev

The original figure was ridiculously high and allegedly contributed to early failure of wheel bearings. The lower figure was brought in after a few years. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
